Hysysco are specialists in automation and control in the food processing industry. One of the more specialised processes in the dairy industry is HTST Pasteurisation. Put simply, in the UK, milk must be pasteurised at a minimum temperature of 71.70C for a minimum of 15 seconds.
Get it wrong and not only are you endangering your customers, but you’re also potentially falling foul of the authorities!
Hysysco help dairy processors by designing, building, installing and commissioning fully automated HTST Pasteurisation plant. Whether you’re processing 2,000 litres or 200,000 litres of milk per day, we can help.
We can also help you out with fault finding on your existing pasteurisers, diagnosing hygiene issues and altering existing processes to suit new products or recipes.
Hysysco automated HTST Pasteurisation plants are automated systems of high quality OEM components; typically comprising a balance tank, product pump, plate heat exchanger, holding tube, divert valve and instrumentation for measuring temperatures, flows and pressures. The system normally incorporates a Human Machine Interface (HMI) in the form of a display screen showing the plant condition, any faults and historical data.
In addition to the design, installation and commissioning of your HTST Pasteurisation plant, Hysysco can provide ongoing support in the form of training, preventative maintenance, emergency support and spare parts.
Full automation means just that; production, cleaning, fault finding and data recording are fully automatic processes, leaving your operators free to concentrate on other tasks.
Hysysco HTST Pasteurisation plants can run automated Cleaning In Place (CIP) and Sterilize In Place (SIP) routines to periodically remove any build up of debris, burnt products or contaminants. The plants are designed to clean efficiently and effectively using proprietary detergents such as dilute caustic soda and dilute nitric acid.
Hysysco HTST Pasteurisation plants can be fully automated to run a suite of recipes for different grades of milk and cream and at different flow rates. Your processing requirements change with the season and with changing customer demands. Your Hysysco HTST Pasteurisation plant can handle changing demands with ease.
In addition to supply of new HTST Pasteurisation plant, we offer a full support package including training, preventative maintenance, emergency support and spare parts.
The Dairy Products (Hygiene) Regulations 1995 pertaining to heat-treated drinking milk state “pasteurised milk shall have been obtained by means of a heat-treatment involving a high temperature for a short time (at least 71.7°C for 15 seconds or any equivalent combination) or a pasteurisation process using different time and temperature combinations to obtain an equivalent effect”.
Hysysco can help you comply with this and the other requirements of the Dairy Products (Hygiene) Regulations 1995.
Nutmeg and Hive manufacture the best yoghurt in the World.
We helped Steven and his team to go from table-top production of their 100% natural range of yoghurts to full commercial production for a range of International markets.
Nutmeg & Hive had the product, Hysysco helped them produce it to unrivalled levels of quality and consistency, providing process design, procurement, installation, commissioning and on-going maintenance support for their growing business.
Whilst HTST Pasteurisation usually requires a significant up-front financial investment, the paybacks in reduced operating cost and waste can make the payback period very short.
Whilst it would make sense by significantly reducing your current pasteurisation / cooling time and energy consumption, it only makes sense if you’re processing several thousand litres of product per day. Talk to us about your current system and we can help you work out the benefits and costs of changing to HTST Pasteurisation.
No. The components of an HTST Pasteuriser don’t take up a great deal of space and the layout can be customised to fit the available space.
You need a three-phase, 415VAC electricity supply, a supply of clean dry compressed air, mains water and a significant quantity of steam for heating. Call us to discuss total energy consumption for HTST Pasteurisation.
No, due to the superior heat capacity of steam and the amount of energy required, steam is the only practical source of energy for heating anything more than the smallest HTST Pasteurisation plants.
Whilst there are no hard and fast rules about the frequency of service required, we have clients who have been running their plants every day for over five years without requiring any regasketing or replacement plates in the plate heat exchanger.
Whilst the energy requirements are significant, they are considerably less than you might expect on account of the fact that most HTST Pasteurisation plant design incorporates a heat recovery system. Through clever design of the plate heat exchanger, up to 90% of the energy used to heat and cool the product can be recovered within the system. Talk to us about high efficiency pasteuriser design.
